Hi. My name is Abdel Morched.
Better known as Habit 701.
I’m a designer born in Morocco, raised in Chicago, and currently residing in Barcelona.
My passion is creating and learning through play.
I’ve been an artist since childhood and I’ve been creating professionally for over 10 years.
I’ve traveled around the world and created art in many places.
I want to take you on an illustrated journey through my art career, life, and travels.
My hope is that you’ll gain insight into my world, creative process and the path I’ve taken to where I am today. So keep scrolling and enjoy!
Chicago inspired the majority of my work and collaborations since childhood. The city of big shoulders has always held me up.
I started my career as a creative intern at TwoxFour Advertising. From there I began work as a freelance designer and carpenter.
I then joined the Chicago Loop Alliance and began applying my skills to “Activate”, a series of one night only experiential art parties, transforming alleyways in the Loop District into pop-up parties.
The city of Chicago prepared me for the challenges I would face in different places and spaces of time.
These experiences helped me manage artists and teams to do even bigger projects at concerts and festivals across Chicago and the world.

New York is a place where dreams come true and where the pace of life is much more rapid than I’ve experienced anywhere else.
It was the first destination upon my arrival to America and will always have a place in my heart.
Some years later, I was humbled and honoured to be a part of my first major gallery showing at the Tibet House - the Dalai Llama’s HQ.
New York gave me a lot of my first experiences and it’s a city I’ve loved visiting with my family for some time.
I am honoured to have been able to show my work in a professional setting in NYC and I hope to return to do more.

I had always dreamed of showcasing my work at Art Basel Miami. I’m grateful to have gotten a chance to collaborate with a few artists and bring my 6ft x 6ft Equinox sculpture from Chicago, to NYC and on to Art Basel Miami.
While in Miami I stayed for a few months and created even more sculptures using laser cut scrap wood pieces.
I created new works and showcased them at various galleries from Wynwood to Little Haiti.
Miami is a beautiful city and I continue to collaborate on exciting projects using murals, sculptures, and projection mapping for upcoming Art Basel and creative events.
I might be far from Miami, but the city is always on my mind and therefore always nearby. The colours from this place will always stay painted on my heart.

I came to Barcelona for the ultimate challenge. I wanted to challenge myself as an artist and travel to a place where I didn’t really know anyone or the language.
The result was months of seclusion on my iPad Pro creating hyper real illustrations using my Apple Pencil and Procreate. I surprised myself as an artist and I was able to create things in the digital world that I never thought possible.
In the physical world I also began creating more murals for various businesses & private residences in and around Barcelona & Catalonia. I discovered that I could change the atmosphere of a room, using patterns and colours to make it a more positive space.
In Barcelona, I not only found myself as an artist but also discovered the power and healing of colours and shapes. Being here helped me discover that I could make it in the world. All it took was for me to put myself out of my comfort zone and learn how to adapt to a culture that was different to mine.
The confidence I get from the challenge of Barcelona has made me dream of creating art in other parts of the world. I have made so many friends here and have healed immensely from the beauty and inspiration that Barcelona provides.
